Restaurantis a place where people pay and sit with together and eat meals that are cooked and served on the place. Many restaurants also offer take out and foods delivery services.

Restaurants vary greatly in the appearance and offerings, including a wide variety of cuisines and service models ranging from inexpensive fast food restaurants and cafeterias, to mid-priced family restaurants and to high-priced luxury establishments.

In Western countries, most mid-to high-range restaurants serve alcoholic beverages also such as beer and wine. Some restaurants serve all the major meals, such as breakfastlunch, and dinner (e.g. major fast food, diners, hotel restaurants, and airport restaurants). Other restaurants may serve only a single meal (for example, a pancake house may only serve breakfast) or they may serve two meals (e.g. lunch and dinner).

Fast Foods

Fast food refers to food that can be prepared and served quickly. However, fastfood is often made with cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats, instead of nutritious ingredients such as lean proteins, whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables.

The United States has the largest fast food industry in the world, and American fast food restaurants are located in over 100 countries. Approximately 5.4 million U.S. workers are employed in the areas of food preparation and food servicing, including fast food in the USA as of 2018.

Fast food and low prices go hand in hand and that is one of the major factors of why Americans choose to eat fast food so often. The final reason why fast food is so popular in America is because the time between placing your order and receiving your food is very short.

The most common type of U.S. fast-food restaurant specializes in a meal consisting of a hamburger, French fries, and a beverage. Examples include McDonald’s, Burger King, and Wendy’s. Some, such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, specialize in chicken; some, such as Subway, provide sandwiches; and others, such as Taco Bell, provide Americanized ethnic foods. Outside of the United States, these fast-food eateries serve some of the standard American dishes, such as hamburgers, but they may also serve regionally popular items. There are also fast-food restaurants in other countries that specialize in providing ethnic foods, such as soups in Japan or crepes in France.
